Summary
- 1998 was a difficult year for most programmable logic vendors with the exception of Atmel and Xilinx, where both companies grew 10% or better for the year.
- Vendors supplying low- to medium-density CPLD products seemed to be hurt the most, probably due to drastic price reductions.
- 1999 has already turned out to be a banner year as both Altera and Xilinx reap heavy rewards for the higher density, higher performance device families.
